This little ditty, was done while waiting for my car to get washed. Ink brush on site, then watercolor overlay when I got back home. This is from a photo reference because I don't paint that fast on my iPhone -but I had to do at least one while I was actually here -that's the only authentic thing about this!
Plus a teentsy sharpen and levels crunch in photogene. Still it was fun to do-

This was so much fun to work on , the background is an exercise in different materials and techniques for emulation, but mostly, these pups just make me smile.

I wrapped this up the other night, the original sketch was from May 2003.This is an image that appeared in my mind when I came out of a surgery. My interpretation is that it represents my second chakra, the area of the surgery, there was a vast dark space around the central energy- going off into infinity.

This image is based on a journal sketch I made on the second morning of a cruise to the Carribean back in 2002. I saw my hat waiting for the day's adventures and realized I was 'finally' on vacation. One small happy moment with not a care in the world.
This is the first image I've created with the new 12"Cintiq. Generally I like it, if you are used to working on a full sized Cintiq 21, viewing your work on this tablet takes some getting used to due to the tight resolution, you might feel like you need reading glasses.
I used photoshop and painter for the image. I recently purchased the Lumix 12.2 camera and hope to never have to scan anything again. From now on, I'll shoot my sketches with the camera and they'll go right into the laptop. It's just getting too easy!

I intend to do more of these small manageable digital paintings. I want to get my backlog of sketches rendered out, and I think this new tablet will work out just fine.

This is an image I created for a workshop in Illustration at the Art Academy in San Francisco. The topic was San Francisco History. Whenever I go to San Francisco and see the bridge, this part of it's history inevitably crosses my mind. It is so vast and dramatic to begin with. Depending on cultural influence, people have very different reactions to this subject matter. This thought is related to the title. After the pencil layout was done, which was the most time consuming part of this image, I created the digital painting in my hotel room on my powerbook using a wacom tablet. the actual photoshop painting took from 6pm to 2 am, one of my fastest renderings ever. Can't wait to get my hands on that 12" Cintique!

I finished this image the other night, it began as a tiny little pencil sketch, I scanned it in resized it and began layering in textures in photoshop. I would really like to do an oil painting, but wanted to see what it would look like, and it was just faster in digital.
